Grand Canyon Adventure (44:59): Director Greg MacGillivray's (Coral Reef Adventure) Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk brings attention to the dwindling water supplies around the world; the film highlights shrinking glaciers, the diminishing Lake Chad, and most central to the film's message, the disappearance of water from the Colorado River. Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk follows Author Wade Davis and a group of fellow conservationists – Tara Davis, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Kick Kennedy – as they traverse the river with guide Shana Watahomigie and explore the many ways in which it's changed over the years, and mostly for the worse. Though 75% of the river's water is derived from Rocky Mountain snow, the river's long, windy trek through dry desert lands – not to mention the impact of the Hoover Dam; vanishing rainwaters and missed rainfall projections; global warming; and the need to supply human population centers with water, with emphasis on the consumption requirements of Las Vegas – have impacted its volume and drastically lessened its water levels to the point that its Mexican delta, a once thriving haven for fisherman, has vanished. The film also examines what a lesser Colorado River will mean to future generations, the impact of wild and foreign vegetation along its banks, and the vanishing species that once lived in and around the Colorado. The film concludes with several tips that everyday viewers can integrate into their lives to help in the battle to conserve water.

Tornado Alley (43:26): Bill Paxton (Twister) narrates the story of storm chasers hoping to get in the middle of, and learn more about, the deadly tornadoes that devastate the American midwest, known as "Tornado Alley." The film begins with amazing imagery of gathering storms – dark and swirling clouds, increasingly violent winds – and contrasts them against the aftermath, the very real toll on people and property the storms leave in their wake. While the film delves into the science of tornadoes and why the vast majority of them plague the central swath of the United States, it's more about the chase and the people who risk it all in the name of science. Paxton's narration often vanishes in favor of the drama of the incoming storm and the race to predict its path and reach it before it's either too dangerous to go further (i.e. from flooded roadways) or the storm dissipates. Radio chatter, perilous winds, booming thunder, driving rain, and flashing lightning tell much of the story as the storm chasers gather as the sky does the same, one with the intent of learning, the other with the intent of destroying.

Hidden Universe (36:02): The universe is a really big place. And it's really old. In Hidden Universe, Earth-based space exploration is described as one part archeology and another part time travel. The film follows a gifted ian named Jonathan who, despite his talents at the piano, set aside his love for to follow his passion for astronomy. For the film, he's traveled to Atacama, an advanced space research station nestled in Chile's Antofagasta Region. There, he's able to study the cosmos using the "VLT," or "Very Large Telescope." The film examines how the telescope operates and, even more impressive, what it can see: a universe that's unfathomably big and unfathomably old. It pokes around the surface of astronomy, discussing some of the interesting spots and fascinating how's and why's of the cosmos. The film also spends some time on ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array), including a fascinating look at how it's made, assembled, and operated at the high altitude it requires. Space buffs are going to love this film.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD: Please make sure by searching the Internet that you have minimum system requirements to play H265/HEVC 4K video files. I've tested all my compressed files in a 3rd Gen Intel Core i3 @ 3.4 GHz machine with 8GB of RAM and 1GB DDR3 AMD Graphics card. All played just fine.

Please Note: Playback of this H.265/HEVC encoded video file in VLC media player may cause problem (like Green Screen). A fresh install of the player or a new version can solve this problem. I strongly suggest you to download and install "K-Lite Codec Pack (Full or Mega version; totally free with WMP Classic)" on your system first and then try to play the file in VLC. Or, you can just install PotPlayer, and no codecs will be needed. I use this player for playing all sorts of media… from MP3 audio files to 4K UHD video files.MS-DOCU
