Released to coincide with Stevie Nicks' solo induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – she is the first woman to be inducted twice, once with a band, once as a solo act – the retrospective Stand Back: 1981-2017 is available in three distinct forms. First, there's a deluxe edition with either three CDs or six LPs, divided by a disc of solo hits, a disc of collaborations, and a disc of live material buttressed by contributions to film soundtracks. Second, there's a digital version containing 40 of the triple-disc's 50 tracks, with a single-disc collection of hits bringing up the rear. Of the three, the latter is the most user friendly, containing all of her big hits along with live versions of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman."

When it comes to a new album by Robin Trower, some things never change. The guitar work will be breathtaking. The songwriting will be heartfelt and fearless. The vocal will siphon the soul. True to form, from the opening swoop of electric guitar, Something's About To Change is a thrilling encapsulation of everything fans love about the celebrated bandleader. And yet, as the title implies, this album finds Trower twisting his talent into bold new shapes. Released on Robin's 70th birthday, Something's About To Change announces a world-class musician at the top of his game. With his own V12 record label allowing Trower to bypass the spirit-sapping protocol of the modern industry, it's no wonder this new album sounds so vital.

The sad fact about box sets is that there's always a fan out there who thinks they could have compiled a better one. An even sadder fact is that they're often correct, and the very notion of anthologizing Van Der Graaf Generator was a fraught one for that very reason. More, perhaps, than any other band of the early-'70s prog era, VDGG polarized their fans as much as the band's blatantly inhospitable sound outraged outsiders. They cut just eight studio albums, and all eight possess a wholly different character, all the more so since the band actually broke up midway through the sequence…

Eric Sardinas is an American blues-rock slide guitarist born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is noted for his use of the electric resonator guitar and his live performances. He sometimes sets his guitar alight on stage and during shows. In 2000 in Sydney, Sardinas suffered third degree burns to his left wrist. Sardinas began to play the guitar at age six and leaned toward vintage recordings by such Delta bluesmen as Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Big Bill Broonzy, Elmore James, and Muddy Waters. Although he was left-handed, he eventually started to play right-handed. In 2002, he featured on the Bo Diddley tribute album Hey Bo Diddley - A Tribute!, performing the song "Ride On Josephine". He signed to Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label and was the opening act for Vai's The Real Illusions Tour 2005 around the world. In 2008, Sardinas released Eric Sardinas and Big Motor on Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label in the U.S.

TAAL is a French band from Poitiers, which name was STRATUS before. Its first album ""Mister Green"" (2000) happened as a sort of musical earthquake in the current musical panorama ! Emphatic keyboards and PINK FLOYD's like sound effects, harsh and distorted guitars in the style of KING CRIMSON, an inspiration that goes from neo-classic to circus music, and some musical deliriums reminding of Frank ZAPPA… Here is what makes the musical style of those nine mainly instrumental tracks. We can find here sense of humor, complexity, extravaganza, some often dark ambiences, and more than anything else an absolute originality. Surrounded here and there by saxophones, violins, cello, flute and clarinet, TAAL creates a music both refined and almighty, between jazz, classic and rock. A musical revolution!

On the two volumes of The Decline of Country and Western Civilization—one from German label City Slang and the other from the band’s American label, Merge—Lambchop gather a gaggle of rarities and oddities, tracks from label samplers and early attempts at songs that would later find homes on What Another Man Spills, Nixon, or Is a Woman. Technically, most are the A- and B-sides from six years of seven-inch singles, but they have the feel of songs stacked for years in the garage behind two decades of National Geographics or lost behind the bedroom bureau, gathering dust with someone’s wallet-size school portrait.

Minnesoda did an obscure but fairly interesting self-titled jazz-rock album for Capitol in 1972, produced by Bob Johnston (famous for his work with Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, and numerous others). The record was in limited respects like the first recordings of Chicago and, more distantly, Blood, Sweat & Tears in its jazz-rock-with-vocals format…

The Battle At Garden’s Gate introduces a new chapter from the band - focused on fighting for what you believe in, self-empowerment, freedom, as well as the Internal and external battles of one’s self. As drummer Danny explains, “ We realized that while growing up, we had been shielded by a lot of things, we were unaware of a lot of things. And then we were thrown out into this huge world, and it was a bit of a culture shock at first.” “We’ve seen how people live in different parts of the world,” added Sam, “and we’ve developed intrinsic respect for different cultures and people. We’ve gone from driving down a highway to a show and seeing endless miles of shantytowns in Sao Paulo, to playing some of the richest places on earth.” Added Jake, “The more we’ve seen - different cultures, people, and traditions - we’ve also seen a similarity between ourselves and these different cultures. It surprises me how similar we all are.”

Teaming up with T-Bone Burnett was a good, healthy move for Natalie Merchant. She had begun to sink into vaguely tuneless singer/songwriterisms with her second solo album, Ophelia, and the sag in artistic quality was notable – which may have been why she bought time with a live album in 1999. Burnett helps restore some musical backbone to her music on Motherland, even if the record is hardly a gritty affair (apart from Merchant's voice, which seems to have deepened and grown tougher since the last time out). Still, there's some character within the sound – atmospheric, blues post-folk-rock, music that breathes – not nearly as precious as Tigerlily or any of the 10,000 Maniacs' records, for that matter, while retaining Merchant's signature sound. Upon first listen, none of the songs announce themselves, yet it all sticks together, and repeated plays reveal Motherland as a subtle grower that will satisfy her large cult.

Think Tank is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Blur, released in May 2003. Continuing the jam-based studio constructions of the group's previous album, 13 (1999), the album expanded on the use of sampled rhythm loops and brooding, heavy electronic sounds. There are also heavy influences from dance music, hip hop, dub, jazz, and African music, an indication of songwriter Damon Albarn's expanding musical interests. Think Tank was well-received critically, with a score of 83 on Metacritic, which equates to a tag of "universal acclaim". Several critics saw the album as timely, in part due to its being recorded in the Arab world where US and UK policies were unpopular. The album was nominated for Best British Album at the 2004 Brit Awards, and won the Q Album of the Year award. Since its release, Think Tank received a number of accolades listing it as one of the greatest albums of 2003 as well as the decade. To celebrate the 21st anniversary of their debut release, Blur s last (to date) album Think Tank has now been expanded across 2CDs, with an entire disc of bonus material added to the original 2003 release (which was the band's fifth consecutive No1 album). The Think Tank Special Edition collects together b-sides from the Out Of Time, Crazy Beat and Good Song singles, which include a Marrakech Mix of Money Makes Me Crazy and an alternative version of Me, White Noise (which was a hidden track on the original release).
