Indie rock outfit of Montreal has announced a new self-released double album I Feel Safe With You, Trash, which will be out on March 5 via Bandcamp. The A-Side for this LP was already released last month via Patreon, with the B-Side is due out this month on the service. Four of the albums’ songs have also been released on Bandcamp.

Mark Kozelek surprisingly released - on February 26, 2021 - a new album under the name Sun Kil Moon entitled Lunch in the Park.

Little Oblivions is the third studio album by Julien Baker. Recorded in Memphis, TN, the record weaves together unflinching autobiography with assimilated experience and hard-won observations from the past few years, taking Baker’s capacity for storytelling to new heights. It also marks a sonic shift, with the songwriter’s intimate piano and guitar arrangements newly enriched by bass, drums, keyboards, banjo, and mandolin with nearly all of the instruments performed by Baker.

STRFKR has always been a constantly evolving entity, growing over the years from rambunctious beginnings into the manicured electro-pop perfection they exhibited on their last studio album, 2016’s pristine Being No One, Going Nowhere. New album Future Past Life breaks new ground, dialing back some of the high-gloss production they’re known for to craft songs that are stripped down, spaced out and somehow as visceral as they are dream-like. STRFKR goes deeper into these songs by breaking them down to their essential elements, finding a new immediacy when working with raw materials.

The Weather Station - project of Tamara Lindeman - releases her new album, Ignorance, on Fat Possum. Through Ignorance, Lindeman has remade what The Weather Station sounds like, using the occasion of a new record to create a novel sonic landscape, tailor-made to express an emotional idea. Ignorance is sensuous, ravishing, as hi-fi a record as Lindeman has ever made, breaking into pure pop at moments, at others a dense wilderness of notes; a deeply rhythmic and painful record that feels more urgent and clear than her work ever has.

One of Australia’s greatest self-made successes, Tash Sultana is a one-person powerhouse who commands multiple instruments and gear, whether on-stage or in-studio. A globe-trotting sensation with a live show that needs to be seen to be believed, the 25-year-old’s second album Terra Firma is a natural evolution of their multi-dimensional jams. The follow-up to 2016’s ARIA-winning Flow State was recorded in a custom-built studio over nearly a year.

My Morning Jacket will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their sophomore studio album, At Dawn, by issuing an expanded version of the LP.

Before lockdown halted their tour in early 2020, singer Stuart Staples was already nurturing seeds for a different kind of Tindersticks album. If 2019’s No Treasure but Hope saw these mavens of intimate, expansive mood song rediscovering themselves as a unit, the follow-up reconfigures that unit so that everything familiar about Tindersticks sounds fresh again. Released through City Slang on February 19th, Distractions is an album of subtle realignments and connections from a restless, intuitive band: rich in texture and atmosphere, it lives between its open spaces and filigree details, always finding new ways to connect with a song.

The Last Exit is the fifth studio album from Still Corners, released on Wrecking Light Records. With the shimmering desert noir sound the band has become known for, The Last Exit takes you on a hypnotic journey, one filled with dilapidated towns, mysterious shapes on the horizon, and long trips that blur the line between what’s there and not there. Greg says, “We found something out there in the desert – something in the vast landscapes that went on forever." Nearly five years after their last lightning-tinted volley, the magisterial Montreal psych-rock band has sworn off compromise, split with their long-standing label, and completed a searing, 72-minute suite about the darkness of death and the light on the other side.

Over the course of their extraordinarily accomplished discography to date, Django Django have constantly headed left where others have gone right. Fleet Foxes fourth studio album Shore, a new collection of 15 new songs. Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold shares, Shore feels like a relief, like you'd feel when your feet finally hit sand after getting caught in a riptide. It's a celebration of life in the face of death, honoring our lost musical heroes, from David Berman to John Prine to Judee Sill to Bill Withers, embracing the joy and solace they brought to our lives and honoring their memory. SHORE is an object levitating between the magnetic fields of the past and the future. Shore was released digitally in it's entirety on the fall equinox (9/22) alongside an album length Super-16mm landscape film captured and edited in Washington State by the filmmaker Kersti Jan Werdal. The album was recorded in upstate New York at Aaron Dessner's Long Pond Studio, in Paris at Studios St. Germain, in Los Angeles at the legendary Vox, in Long Island City at Diamond Mine, and New York City's Electric Lady.

The Vapour Trails, a UK band left by the father/son team of Kevin and Scott Robertson, released two excellent records in the past few years, the most recent being 2020’s Golden Sunshine. Just when I thought they were going to be taking a break (but really glad they didn’t) out comes a new 7-song EP! Apparently it was only going to a 4 songs but the band added a few extras and it’s just as strong as the band’s other material. They haven’t messed with the formula (if you could call it a formula) with loads of jangly guitars melded with ace harmonies that brings their 60’s influences right up to the present. “Tommy’s Tune” and the title track are the 1-2 punch that open the record and are both terrific cuts, among the band’s best really and there’s a few more (including a remix of “Strange’ and a Kinks-y number called “Autumn and Spring”). I won’t delve into all of the songs (‘cos where’s the fun in that?!) but suffice it to say it’s strong collection top to bottom. Pop music the way it was meant to be done.

First studio album by The Notwist in seven years Featuring Saya (Tenniscoats), Ben LaMar Gay, Angel Bat Dawid and Juana Molina.
